During the beginning part of 20th century another inventor in Chicago referred to as Arthur Pitney, followed this subject independently and secured a mailing system patent for his invention and established the American Postage Meter Company in the year of 1912. This initial franking machine manufactured by Pitney featured a chain action, printing die, manual crank, and counter and lockout devices.
